Be sure to visit the Battery Hill Mining Centre, home to the Tennant Creek Visitor Information Centre located in the heart of the Barkly region between Alice Springs and Katherine. Speak to the friendly locals to learn about the region and discover the local’s passion for this special place, including the 1930s gold rush, Aboriginal culture, and Australia’s premier cattle stations.

 

At the Battery Hill Mining Centre learn about gold mining past and present, see the specialist machines used, including the largest working 10-head battery in northern Australia, during the Underground Mine Tour and the Historic Gold Stamp Battery Tour.

 

Battery Hill Mining Centre, Peko Road. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1 pm (subject to change) Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday.
